Research for the paper industry and its suppliers

PTS research work focuses on non-profit collective research. In addition, research is also conducted as contract research for individual companies or as collaborative research where several companies join to form a project consortium.

PTS research centres on the following areas:

• Pulps
• Stock preparation and wet end
• Surface technology
• Energy and water

In its research work, PTS uses ultra-modern simulation tools with a view to reproducing the entire process of developing and manufacturing paper in the form of simulation models.

Industrial collective research
PTS know-how is based in particular on collective research whose planning and implementation is determined by industry’s needs. The annual scope of research amounts to about 40 new projects per annum involving a funding volume of approx. € 8m. It is especially small and medium sized enterprises that profit from collective research.

Collaborative research
Several enterprises from different sectors join forces with research institutes to enter into collaborative R & D, thus generating enhanced synergies whilst at the same time minimising costs. The rights to exploit the research results are held by the partners in the consortium.

Contract research
PTS undertakes research contracts for individual companies to solve problems or to investigate company-specific issues. These contracts are tailored to the requirements of the ordering party in every case. The results of contract research are made available solely to the respective ordering party for its exclusive use.
